The Lady Hawks Freshman Basketball Team finished its season against Terrell. The game started as expected. It was close going into the 2nd quarter. At the half, the Lady Hawks had started to establish a lead. In the third quarter, Terrell mounted a comeback, but it was short lived. The Lady Hawks continued their battle and won the game 49-34.
Top scorers were Kristen Kistner with 16 and Bailey Hebert with 12. This brings our district record to 5 - 7 and overall 13 – 16. For the season, Kristen Kistner scored 285 points, Bailey Hebert scored 261, Brianna Arriola had 79 recorded steals, Edith Figueroa had 57 steals, Lauren Mclin had 135 rebounds. The other contributing players with unrecorded efforts include Rebekah Crouch and Christiana Breedlove. The season saw the young ladies improve tremendously.
We had a number of close games that truly tested the girls, and that demonstrated their outstanding character. We are all proud of their determination and dedication. They represented Red Oak Schools very well. It was my joy and privilege to coach them. My hope and belief is that they gained something much more from the experience than how to shoot a basketball.

In a rematch of the JV Ram Cup Tournament Championship game, your Lady Hawks traveled to Rockwall to battle the Lady Yellow Jackets. Red Oak got on the board early when Adrienne Crisman punched in a corner kick from Emily DeYoung. The Lady Yellow Jackets tied the game in the first minute of the second half off a deflection.
The ladies responded quickly when Christina Smith received the ball from Adrienne Crisman and nailed a great shot over the goalies head. Rockwall tied the game with ten minutes to play and the game appeared headed for a 2-2 tie. However, after what seemed like the longest two minutes in a game ever, the Lady Yellow Jackets were able to bank one off the goal post with 10 SECONDS left in the game to win the game 2-3.

We rallied in the second but were unable to come up with a score even though we had the chances. Final score 1-0 with Rockwall on top. This brings our record to 6-2-1.

The boys’ varsity soccer team played Mansfield Timberview last night. It was a good game for us because we were missing a lot of key players. The boys won last night 3-1.
Red Oak goals were by Richie Barrientos, Josh Mrozinski, Dillon Malke. This takes the boys to 9 wins 1 loss. Next up is Rockwall Heath at home this Friday. Last game before district.

The Lady Hawks varsity soccer team hosted the Colony Cougars. After a very back and forth 1st half, the score remained 0-0. About 15 min. into the 2nd half the cougars lofted a nice ball into our goal. However, instead of getting down and giving up, the lady hawks rallied and scored on a corner kick with about 5 min. left in the game. With the momentum on our side, the lady hawks had 2 more shots that should have gone in, but didn’t.
Over all the lady hawks did a GREAT job and ended the game with a 1-1 tie. Our next home game is Tuesday against Ferris (our district opener). The lone goal was scored by sophomore Samantha Gonzales and assisted by junior Lolo Stewart. The defense was anchored by senior Becky Lamar (who shut down the Colony’s national team player). Assisting her on defense was senior Courtney English, sophomore Justine Lopez, sophomore Jennifer Crawford, and senior Courtney Beene. Paige McMillan had a great game last night (even after she received a bloody nose in the first 5 min. of the game).

The Lady Hawk JV soccer team hosted The Colony Cougars. The Cougars took an early 0-1 lead in the first half but were unable to increase the margin thanks to an ever improving defense lead by Kasaandra Ibanez, Dazha Jackson, Michelle Taylor, and Mallory Perkins.
Despite their best overall effort of the season, the ladies were unable to get a shot past the Cougar goalie. Final score: 0-1.
