The Lady Hawks JV softball team took on west mesquite for their home opener.  Maycee Landes pitching for Red Oak, shut out West in the first inning with 2 strike outs.  RO, in the first inning, quickly put up 4 runs, and they never looked back.  The final score was 8-0.  Gracin Auler hit a double and Maycee Landes had 5 strike outs.  There were no errors attributed to Red Oak.

The the JV Lady Hawks played Mabank.  RO quickly scored one run, an infield homerun by Danielle Barrientez.  However, Mabank answered with 4 runs.  The rest of the game was well played with Mabank scoring only 4 more and RO scoring another 2 runs.  The final score was 3-8.  The balls fell short of our gloves by inches, and Mabank capitalized on our errors to take the game. Our Record is 7-7 overall and 2-1 in district.

The Lady Hawk JV soccer team hosted the Lady Indians from Waxahachie.  The ladies took control of the game very early when Adrienne Crisman scored in first 45 seconds of the game.  Lauren Byers would add a goal midway through the first half.  The second half found the ladies taking numerous shots but unable to get any past the Waxahachie goalie.

Waxahachie would score for the Lady Hawks when they kicked a Byers miss back into the goal.  Monica Nieto would add the final goal of the night to end the game 4-0.  The ladies ended the season with a record of 9-10-2 (1-0-2 in district play).

Hawks Honor First Pitch Kid - Trevor Hicks

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Steve Patterson - Moving Pictures

Throughout the year Coach Autrey and the Varsity Hawks will also honor some great students from around ROISD. Tonight we welcome and honor Trevor Hicks of Red Oak Intermediate to throw out the first pitch as well.

Trevor is a 6th grader who was nominated by his teacher Mrs. Lindstrom. He is the son of David and Shannon Hicks and has two brothers Trey Hicks at 5th grader at ROI and Buddy Ray Hicks a 3rd grader at Eastridge Elementary. Trevor’s hobbies and interests are listed: Trevor is an exceptional artist and uses his drawing abilities to be creative in every class in school.

Trevor is interested in non-fiction stores especially science. He also enjoys playing video games with this family at home and is a member of the Intermediate School Choir. Mrs. Lindstrom nominated Trevor due to his confidence and regard for what is right for all students. He is quick to take up for other students and tell another student that what he or she is doing wrong is not what they should be doing.

Trevor is respectful to all his teachers and does very well in all his classes. Red Oak Intermediate School, Project Success Drug Education and Red Oak Hawks Varsity Baseball are proud to congratulate Trevor Hicks as tonight’s first pitch student.
