Lady Hawks Softball Update!

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

The Red Oak JV softball team started season play last Thursday against Mesquite Horn, and then entered the Waxahachie tournament on the weekend.  This round of games was very beneficial for us.  The weather had kept us from playing scrimmages.  Through out the weekend the team showed improvement.  The score for the Mesquite Horn game was 2 – 12.  The girls were pleased to see that they could actually score.  Thursday we played Ennis and lost the game in the last inning with a play at home going to Ennis 4-5.

Then we played Azle and lost 0-13.  Friday we lost 2 games 4-14 and 0-5.  Saturday we played Maypearl and the team played very well.  We won 12-5.  Pitchers were Shelly Rudd and Chelsea Hodges.  The final game was against Midway and we lost 0-8.  We treated the tournament like a scrimmage and were able to try different scenarios.  The team showed many good signs of being a good solid team for the season.

ROHS Student Council Goes Pink - Honors Survivors!!

    Saturday, October 17th, 2009

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Red Oak High School will be “going pink” on Friday, October 16, 2009. This motion encourages students to support and help fund cancer research. Students have helped fund numerous cancer research charities by purchasing shirts from the Red Oak Fire Department.

“Red Oak is going pink because we are supporting breast cancer awareness month. It is something that affects many people, even in our community and district. By supporting breast cancer awareness, we are backing up the idea that we want Red Oak to be a cancer-free zone.” expressed Marisa Sibley, President of the Student Council. The Red Oak High School Student Council will also be honoring teachers, faculty, and students who have survived or are being treated for any form of cancer. During the pep rally on October 16, the Student Council will present gifts to those honored from around the district.

Lexi Belote, Vice President of the Student Council stated, “We appreciate what these cancer victims have been through, and we are excited to help fund cancer research to beat cancer in Red Oak and beyond. We are lucky to have them in our district because it sets a good example for us students to show that Hope and Determination can help us win any challenge.” The pep rally will begin at 3:29 PM on October 16 in the Red Oak High School Gym.
